Launch of the Chandaria Meru Women Prisons Workshops
Kenya Prisons Service boasts of the successful launch of the Chandaria Meru Women Prisons Workshops being the 2nd project after the Langata Chandaria Maximum Women Prison Workshop.
The launch was graced by the Principal Secretary State Department of Correctional Services Dr.Salome Muhia-Beacco CBS,The Commissioner General of Prisons Brig(Rtd) John K. Warioba CBS and Ag Secretary Probation and Aftercare Services Dr.Christine Obondi OGW .
The Chief Justice was represented by Presiding Judge Justice Edward Muriithi and Hon Lady Justice Cherere from Meru High Court and Presiding Judge Justice Lucy Gitari Chuka High Court.
In the Chief Justice Speech as read by Justice Edward Muriithi. She applauded the KPS for the great achievements such as imparting enterprenural skills through collaborations with partners in the textile and food Industry for self reliance .
The Commissioner General of Prisons while giving his address emphasized that the project will aid in provision of comprehensive vocational training and programmes and in turn provide a pathway to a better life after completion of sentences for the inmates.
He reminded staff that our mandate is safe custody prioritizing inmates rehabilitation guided by professionalism and dedication.
The project was sponsored by Chandaria Foundation,Safal Building Systems,Lions Group Rotary Club and Baraka Roses,Valentine Cake House.
Senior officers present for tge launch were the Director Rehabilitation ACGP Jane Kirii,OGW Director Prison Enterprises ACGP Peter Njoroge MBS, Administrative Secretary Agness Keempua amongst others.
